Saving Sea Turtles is a Marathon, Not a Sprint

Kapow! I’m Girl Power! And I’m proof that no obstacle is too big to overcome. I was rescued on International Women’s Day (March 9) off Ocean Reef, Florida Keys and arrived at The Turtle Hospital facing severe, life-threatening challenges. I was tightly entangled in fishing line, which I had also ingested, and was heavily impacted by fibropapilloma tumors. Against the odds, I fought my way back to health through rehabilitation thanks to my amazing friends at The Turtle Hospital! My treatment included disentanglement, multiple tumor removal surgeries, broad spectrum antibiotics, fluids, vitamins, post eye tumor removal surgery chemotherapy, and a healthy, hearty diet of fresh greens and mixed seafood fit for a superhero! To celebrate my incredible journey of strength, I’ve decided to proudly represent The Turtle Hospital as their official competitor in the Tour de Turtles race. Join us by cheering me on and also making sure you always properly dispose of fishing line so other turtles like me don’t end up in harm’s way.

I was named by my Sponsor, The Turtle Hospital. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awareness about the threat of Plastic and Marine Debris to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
