Hey Divas! I’m Seayoncé, but I’m sure you already knew that—I’m one of one. I’ve been tapped by my friends at World Nomads to compete in the Tour de Turtles race this year and baby, I came to slay! I’m also helping STC raise awareness about the threat of longline fisheries along the way. Each year, hundreds of thousands adult and juvenile sea turtles are accidentally captured in fisheries. I’ve been lucky that I haven’t gotten stuck in one yet, but it would be very easy for turtles like me to get hooked or trapped. To make sure sea turtles and other marine life don’t get accidentally captured, it’s important to only eat sustainably sourced seafood and support companies and countries that use Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) on their boats. You know what they say, “If you like it then you shoulda put a TED on it!” I think that’s how it goes?
I was named by my Sponsor, World Nomads. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awareness about the threat of Commercial Longline Fisheries to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
