Oh boy, oh boy! I’m so excited to swim in this year’s Tour de Turtles! My friends at Four Seasons Resort in Nevis named me Patches because the pattern on my shell kinda looks like patches! Pretty neat, right?! I’ve had some other hawksbill friends participate in the Tour de Turtles the past 11 years and it totally sounds like my kind of event. Island hopping, hanging out on the beach, swimming with friends…. Count me in! It might seem like all fun and games now, but one of the reasons I was selected was to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change, a major threat to our beautiful beaches. Because of climate change, sea levels are rising, resulting in the disappearance of many nesting beaches. To battle this problem, humans can use energy-saving methods of transportation, plant vegetation along beaches to provide better nesting habitat, and use more solar or wind energy. I plan to swim throughout the Caribbean to let everyone know about climate change, and hopefully make lots of new friends along the way.
I was named by my Sponsor,
Four Seasons. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Climate Change to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
