Hola, soy Rosalita! I’m so excited to be a part of this year’s Tour de Turtles race – growing up in Cuba, I never dreamt I’d be able to participate in this great event! I used my connections to hook up with the folks at The Turtle Hospital and STC to help me enter the race and raise awareness about the importance of water quality! Lucky for me, I nested in a protected national park where the water is very clean and clear, but I heard it through the grapevine that humans have been allowing chemicals and waste to run-off in other areas I might migrate through! The ocean, while it seems so vast, has apparently been a dumping ground for much of the waste produced on land for longer than I’ve even been alive. This can seriously mess with the water quality. Even if it isn’t direct pollution, harmful toxins like fertilizer and pesticides are sneakily making their way towards the ocean and can enter my food supply. I was astonished to learn this! Ay dios mio! I can’t have these chemicals in my body while I’m prepping for a marathon! Help me out by cheering for me along my journey and together we can put an end to water pollution!

I was named by my Sponsor, The Turtle Hospital. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Water Quality to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
