Hi friends! My name is Stella, which is short for “Constellation.” The folks over at the Sea Turtle Conservancy thought I looked like I had stars and constellations on the back of my shell when they saw me! With such a beautiful pattern on my shell, I would hate for it to get ruined by something like oil while I’m racing in the Tour de Turtles. That stuff just gets all over and won’t come off! It would definitely slow me down, and I’m trying to win this thing! I know it’s not the end of the world if it smears on the back of my shell, but it is a big deal if my food has been contaminated. I have a figure to maintain, so all I eat are jellyfish. An oil spill could be a real problem if my only food source is covered in it! Plus, I don’t want my little babies swimming through that toxic mess after they finally hatch. I may end up swimming through the Gulf of Mexico, and I know there have been some major oil spills there. I’m counting on my fans and STC to help me get through this!

I was named by my Sponsor, Sea Turtle Conservancy. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Oil Spills to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
