Greetings! My name is Cordelia, and I come from a very sacred place – Tortuguero, Costa Rica! My green turtle friends and I love to nest at Tortuguero, but I have something scary to tell you: We were almost completely wiped out not too long ago there by poachers trying to eat us! Luckily Dr. Archie Carr saved us just in the nick of time, but poachers are still at work today! Did you know that people still consume turtle eggs for food? In some cultures, eggs are served during special occasions. I personally think humans should eat at my sponsor’s restaurant, the Greene Turtle, instead of stealing turtle eggs. If you can’t make it to a Greene Turtle restaurant, you can still help by supporting ecotourism based on turtles like me and not on consumption, keeping a safe distance away from our nests, and reporting poachers who try to steal eggs from our nests!
I was named by my Sponsor,
The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Egg Harvest for Consumption to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
