Hola! Me llamo Marina! I just traveled over 1,000 miles to lay my eggs on the beautiful beaches of Panama. You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve seen along the way! Ay dios mío! This one time, I passed by a line of really sharp shiny things, como se dice? Ah, fishing hooks! I later learned they were for longline fishing and that boats lay out miles of hooks to get a certain species of fish. Están loco! What happens is they accidentally end up catching things like sharks, birds, turtles, and other species of fish they don’t want. Sometimes they will just throw us back. But other times, it is too late and my turtle friends get tangled in the fishing line and drown. But not to fear! My friends at Certina have our backs; help them root for me to win this Tour de Turtles race so we can fight against the longline fisheries impacts on our ocean!

I was named by my Sponsor, Certina. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awarness about the threat of Commercial Longline Fisheries to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
