Tour de Turtles

My name is "Lumiere," which means "light" in French. I'm an adult female loggerhead sea turtle encountered nesting on July 31, 2008, south of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, Florida. I measure 95.6 cm in curved carapace (shell) length.

A satellite transmitter was applied to my shell after I finished nesting. You can watch when I was released the next morning from Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim.

I'm being sponsored by "Team Disney." which includes Disney's Animal Programs, Disney Vacation Club and Disney Cruise Lines. I'm swimming to raise awarness about the threat of Light Pollution, to nesting females and especially to emerging hatchlings. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
